每年的2月15日是国际儿童癌症日，配合这一天的到来，OurVoiceBox.sg将在2月19至21日举行三天的户外宣传活动。这个户外活动将在United Square举行。这个三天的活动，我们将举办“Everyone Can Play a Part ”比赛。这场比赛将分为两个项目，其中就包括“表演艺术”和“文学艺术”。“表演艺术”就包括舞蹈、戏剧、唱歌、歌剧等，而“文学艺术”则包括绘画、摄影、诗词、设计等。这些作品必须围绕“Everyone Can Play a Part ”的主题。我们希望公众能够通过这些作品和主题，提高对儿童癌症的意识。“文学艺术”的优胜作品将会在活动现场展出，而“表演艺术”的入围者则有机会在现场表演自己的才艺。

 

ICCD:

The International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) was declared by the International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organisations (ICCCPO) in Luxemburg in September 2001. The objectives of the International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) are to educate the public about childhood cancer and to support local fund-raising by member nations. Click here for related articles.

The first ICCD was held on 15th January 2002 and it was a great success with 38 countries organising a range of activities to mark the day.

 

Gold Ribbon:

The gold ribbon is the official ribbon of children with cancer worldwide, supported, recognised and promoted by hundreds of organisations and treatment centres related to childhood cancer.

Internationally, the gold ribbon represents children with cancer in these and other ways:

- It is a precious metal, as our children are precious;
- It is the purity of our children’s hearts;
- It is the flame of hope.

To us, the gold ribbon also represents the strength of our children and their families who have fought a brave battle with childhood cancer. This source of strength is “cast” from the support of many people who have contributed in their various capacities: the medical team, our social workers, sponsors and donors, volunteers and schools.

It is important for the public to be aware of childhood cancer and understand what a family with a child diagnosed with cancer is going through. A community that is aware of their struggle will provide a more caring and supportive environment, helping our families to integrate better from the hospital back to the community.

Cancer is an uncontrolled and abnormal cell growth that can spread to other parts of the body, wreaking havoc and disrupting normal bodily functions. Childhood cancers grow more rapidly than adult cancers because the cancer tissues grow together with the fast-growing tissues of the child.
